In the urban warfare environment, soliders recognized the need for a close quarter combat knife. After studying and interviewing hundreds of real life hand-to-hand combat encounters, MACP Close Quarter Combat expert Matt Larsen worked with award-winning knife makers Chris Reeve and William W. Harsey Jr. to create the L.H.R. The quick-release sheath has a built-in safety release that can only release the knife by the wearer. The textured TacHide™ handle provides sure grip in wet conditions. Proudly made in U.S.A.

The knife: well-designed and constructed; made in the USA. The "TacHide" grip scales are tacky enough for a sure grip, but not rubbery like kraton. I prefer G-10 or micarta, but TacHide is a reasonable acommodation to keep the price low. Knife is well-balanced and feels light in the hand. The sheath: the scabbard itself is some sort of polymer and behaves similar to kydex. It appears to be jumpable. What I don't like is the drop-leg rig. It's the only way you can wear it. I'll figure out a way I can jerry-rig an attachment so I can wear it as a regular belt sheath. The thumb release takes some getting used to, but it is very secure and doesn't rattle. Overall impression is a well-made piece of gear that is designed for the operator to wear on his thigh.
