For all those who camp, hunt or spend time afield. The Campanion works just as happily splitting out kindling as it does prying apart joints and skinning game, not to mention chopping onions for the campfire chili!

Hefty Knife, Weak Finish, Loose handle

The knife is very sturdy with the exception of the handle and finish. After splitting just two logs the painted finish was scraping and the handles had began to loosen (they are easy to retighten but I would rather not have to). After this one use the knife looks as though I have owned for months. I must say excluding those minor problems the knife did perform great! I was also expecting the sheath to have a plastic buckle on the belt loop, which I guess they decided to leave off the new version. For $60 I would definitely recommend buying this knife.

This thing is the most solid knife I have ever owned. One serious knife.

Great Design, Poor Finish

Let me start out by saying that I love the design and weight of this knife. My problems with the knife are handle is slick; it needs some type of texture to it. There are also gaps between the handle material and the blade. The blade is not finished very well; there are dings and scratches in the blade that they just paint over. And last I had to put an edge on the blade, I think they sharpen it with 40 grit sandpaper. I’m planning on replacing the handle with micarta and remove the black paint and dings and scratches from the blade.

Best of the Best!

This knife is the best all around knife you can buy! It can do it all from carving a toothpick to splitting a log! 5out of 5!!!

Excellent knife for excellent price

This knife is excellent - it excells at what it was designed for. You can chop down a small tree, and then cut up dinner. It is definitely a large piece of metal - the weight is significant. Many complain about the grivory handles, but for my hand they have performed wonderfully. Not slick, no hot spots, tough as nails. When I ordered the knife I seriously considered getting the micarta scales as well - I am glad I didn't. Please give the grivory a try before you change. It is too heavy/thick in my opinion for small work, but that is not what it is meant to do. In a pinch it can do almost anything you ask of a knife, just maybe with extra time/effort for certain tasks. Overall I can not imagine someone not being pleased with this even at double the price. Absolutely no regrets after heavy use over approximately 4 months. Will see how it holds up longer term, but expectations are high.
