Now here''s a knife with some mighty impressive roots. It was brought to market back in 1980 by none other than the man whose last name goes on each of our products. Pete Gerber was the first knife creator to envision the merits of using all-synthetic materials in the handle. He and knife designer Blackie Collins aimed to deliver lightweight performance that had not been seen before in a knife this all-out rugged.

The Gerber L.S.T. is the smoothest of operators. With a mechanical action that just feels good and satisfying when you open and close the blade, which happens to be made of 400 series stainless steel.

But let''s get back to the topic of lightweight performance. The heaviest of the four legendary L.S.T. models musters a mere 1.2 ounces on the scales. Yet, when you feel that easy grip, there''s no question that Pete Gerber''s big idea is one for the ages.

I owned this knife for years and loved it, kept it in my pocket all the time. When I lost it I couldn't stand it. I tried a couple of other knives I got locally but I didn't like them. One was a Buck, not sharp wouldn't hold much of an edge. I finally found my favorite knife online here and ordered it immediately.

13 Years and Still Going

I have been in the Army for 13 years and this knife has been in my pocket since the first day I went to the PX. We have been through the best of times and worst of times together. I recently decided to upgrade to a Spyderco Delica based on the recommendation of Nutnfancy but after two weeks of EDC, I am back to my LST. In my opinion there is no upgrade to perfection and that is what the LST has proven to me after 13 years of every day use in the best and worst possible conditions imaginable.

Was the best pocket knife I have ever owned (I am 50 yrs old). I just forgot to put it in my carry on and now some TSA agent in Las Vegas owns one of the best all around pocket knives made. Fortunately you still make them. Thanks Gerber for a quality tool.

OUTSTANDING!!

This was the first pocket knife I ever bought myself. Had one since 1985 and it's as good today as the day I bought it. Something to think about, this knife has helped numerous F-15 aircraft take to the sky. I've abused it daily on the flightline, soaked it in every fluid imaginable. And today, it's still shaving sharp...although a wee bit smaller.

Very nice

This is a great little pocket knife. what attracted me to it was the light weight. I used this knife for five years everyday about 30 times a day for work. I mean really hard use not just a letter or box opener. Sharpened it so much I wore the blade off it. If you just need a pocket knife for general use buy one of these you won't even know its in your pocket it's so light. The only reason I don't give it a five is because the blade had to be resharpened a little often for me. But for a GP knife it will last a really long time. For the price it's hard to beat

This is the old name for this knife I bought in 1983. I've had it ever since. Still holding an edge. Sharp as ever. I'm buying another so that I can have one a work.

Holds an edge very well, and it's as light in weight as they come. Hardly noticeable in your pocket. Highly recommend it.

Great knife
